Happy #MilfordMonday everyone! For your backstage pass today... a little whistle recall training with our Bird Show star ambassador kea, Milford! When we take our birds out around the park, we like to give them lots of freedom to express themselves and have fun - no short leashes here! But, having a good strong recall if/when we want them to come back to us and stay close is important. Milford is full of confidence and loves to investigate EVERYTHING, so we decided to work on a recall with him - we're using a whistle to get his attention and, if he comes to us when he hears that whistle, he gets lots of nice, special treats to reinforce the behavior we want to see This is his very first time with the whistle! My special favorite part is close to the end when he is off in the "wrong" direction, you hear my coworker blow the whistle and Milford does a 180 degree turn mid-flight to head over to her! Clever boy!!!
