Here's how to build a grind box for your BMX bike or skateboard. Building a bike or skateboard grind box is easy and relatively cheap. We built this grind box out of one sheet of plywood, 4 8-foot 2 x 4s, a chain link fence post, and 2 4-foot pieces of angle iron. Using the fence post and angle iron on opposite sides of the grind box gives you two different surfaces to ride, so you have more variety than you would if both sides were the same. The sheet of plywood is around $30. 2x4s cost $3 each, and you would need 4 of them to build the box with the fence post rail on one side. The fence post was $15. The angle iron costs $17 per 4-foot section, and you need 2 of them to cover an 8-foot box. This 8 foot grind box is easy to build, and it's a fun project to do with your kids.
