LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT | Graham Greene, Six Nations, Ontario

Born June 22, 1952, this Oneida Native couldn’t have imagined he would be one of the most successful First Nations actors of his generation. While working as an audio tech for a rock band, he was encouraged to try acting, leading to several small roles in television, film and radio. Greene later ran the Centre for Indigenous Theatre’s Native Theatre School program from
1983 to 1985. In the mid-1980s he scored his first major film credit, the
historical epic Revolution, opposite Al Pacino. Five years later he landed
the role of Kicking Bird in Kevin Costner’s Dances With Wolves, providing
him inter national exposure and garnering an Academy Award nomination
for Best Supporting Actor. He won major film roles in Thunder - heart, maverick, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, and The Green Mile and on the small screen with gigs on The Red Green Show, Northern Exposure, Lonesome Dove: The Series, Wolf Lake and Discovery Channel’s Exhibit A series. In 1992 Graham received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles (dedicated to the culture of Native Americans),
and won the Best Actor Award for his role in Skins at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2002. He has been nominated three times (winning twice) for Gemini Awards and in 2004 was honored with their Earle Grey Award for Lifetime Achievement. He continues to work in high profile projects such as The Twilight Saga, SyFy’s Defiance and A&E’s Longmire.
