A reader of my blog asked if I could make a simple video showing how to cast off my knitted curlicues, so here’s a basic video for those of you who are visual learners.
My curlicues are knitted in sport weight yarn on size 2.75mm needles for tightly knitted curlicues.
For the sake of simplicity, I always cast on a multiple of 3 stitches, as the cast-off is a 3-stitch repeat. So, to get my length of spiral, I cast on 45, 48, 51, or 54 stitches. I tried to keep the stitch count random so that there were various lengths of curlicues around my wreath.
The basic cast off repeat is -
K1, (purl 2 together, cast off 1, k1, cast off 1) repeat to the end.
