🧈 Ingredients – Holiday Sugar Cookies
Dry Ingredients:
2 ¼ cups (281g) all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon almond extract (optional, but highly recommended)
For Decorating (optional):
Royal icing
Easy glaze icing
Cookie buttercream
Make the cookie dough using just 7–8 simple ingredients. With fewer ingredients, it’s important to follow the recipe closely. Creamed butter and sugar create the base, flour and egg give structure, vanilla adds flavor, and I always recommend a touch of almond extract for something extra special. Baking powder adds lift, and salt balances everything.
Divide the dough into two parts — smaller sections are easier to roll out. Roll to ¼-inch thickness, then chill the rolled dough so the cookies keep their shape.
Cut into your favorite shapes, bake for 11–12 minutes on 350F oven , cool completely, and decorate as you like ✨🍪
