Sir Johan Marshall (19 March 1876-17 August 1958) was British Director General of Archeological Survey during British era in sub-continent from 1902 to 1928. He excavated #Mohenjo Daro, #Harappa, #Taxila. He has expert knowledge on Sanchi, Gwalior State and on Gandhara Civilisation. He set up Taxila Museum in 1928.
Adjacent to Taxila Museum is his historic residence, now being used as rest house of Archeology Department, Government of the Punjab. This residence is preserved well and only dignitaries can enter this. Foreign dignitaries, ambassadors and top members of Buddhist community get opportunity to enter this house. This treasure is hidden from eyes eyes of world so that it remains well preserved. The household items and furniture in use of Sir Johan Marshall has also been well preserved (appreciation to Archeology Department, Government of the Punjab).
This is perhaps first ever video that has opened the house for viewers in detail. there are beautiful lawns on front and backside. The backside lawn given heavenly look. There is guava orchard near backside lawn. Overall this place is one of the best places I have visited so far.
