In this quick tech how-to video, I’m going to show you how to change the privacy settings on your Facebook posts to public, which will then allow them to be seen and also shared by anyone. You’ll want to do this if you’re trying to promote or reach out to the most people that you can. We’ll look at where to go both in the mobile app, as well as the desktop site.

First, inside the iOS or Android mobile app, find the post that you want to make public.

Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right of the post.

In here, select Edit Privacy, and you’ll see all of the privacy options. Choose the top option, Public, and then hit Done. You will then see the globe icon at the top of your post, letting you know that it is now available to be seen and shared by anyone on Facebook.

Next, on the desktop website, again find the post you want to make public by going to Facebook.com and then heading to your profile page.

Here, just select the privacy icon at the top of the post. Currently, this post is set to Friends.

Select Public, and the post will then be switched to a public post.

And that’s how you change the privacy setting of a Facebook post to public.
