Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), was a Russian composer during the Romantic period. One of his most famous works is "The Sleeping Beauty", which was written as a ballet in three acts. The score reached completion in 1889, which led to the ballet's first premiere in 1890 at the Marinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The ballet's choreography was collaborated by Marius Pepita who was a French and Russian ballet dancer, pedagogue and choreographer. Pepita is regarded as the most influential ballet master in the history of ballet. In 1890, Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943), was assigned to arrange the score for piano four-hands when he was only 17 years of age. Being both competitive and determined, Rachmaninoff in addition transcribed the entire score into a piano solo.
