The film opens with brutal footage of BUD/S training, the most grueling military preparation in the world. We see candidates pushed beyond human limits during Hell Week, a five-and-a-half-day crucible of freezing water, constant physical torture, and relentless psychological warfare. Only twenty-five percent of those who start will finish. These are the best of the best, forged in hell itself.

June 2005. Afghanistan is a battleground controlled by the Taliban. One man has become a priority target: Ahmad Shah, a Taliban commander responsible for killing over twenty United States Marines. At Bagram Air Base, a four-man Navy SEAL team prepares for Operation Red Wings, a surveillance and reconnaissance mission deep in enemy territory.

The team leader is Lieutenant Michael Murphy, a natural leader with unshakeable integrity. Mark Wahlberg plays Hospital Corpsman Marcus Luttrell, the team medic and a Texan with an unbreakable will to survive. Sonar Technician Matthew Axelson, known as "Axe," is their quiet professional, deadly accurate with a rifle. Communications Specialist Danny Dietz is their tech expert. These four men trust each other with their lives.
