The festival of Firstfruits is far more than an agricultural ceremony in ancient Israel. It is an enacted prophecy, woven into the fabric of the Torah, pointing directly to Yeshua as both the offering and the officiating priest.
Leviticus 23 instructs Israel to bring the first sheaf of the harvest to the cohen, who waves it before Yahweh so that the people are accepted. This single act contains layers of meaning that converge in the resurrection. Yeshua rose from the dead on the very day of Firstfruits, presenting Himself before the Father as the wave offering. He was simultaneously the sheaf lifted from the earth and the Cohen HaGadol carrying it into the heavenly sanctuary.
As Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 15, Yeshua is the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. His acceptance before the Father consecrates the entire harvest. We are not received on our own merit. We are accepted because He was accepted, the holy firstfruit who makes the whole lump holy.
For us, this carries a personal call. We bring the firstfruits of our hearts, our worship, and our resources, trusting the Great High Priest to present them before Yahweh on our behalf. In Him, the sheaf has been waved, the harvest is holy, and we are accepted in the Beloved.
