Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted India’s rapid progress in the semiconductor sector, focusing on the Design-Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme. He said Indian startups have successfully designed and produced semiconductor chips, attracting nearly ₹430 crore in venture capital funding. Vaishnaw praised the country’s talent and credited focused policy support for the momentum. He outlined plans under the India Semiconductor Mission to create indigenous intellectual property across key systems, enabling manufacturing for defence, electronics, and critical applications. Mapping a roadmap from 28nm to advanced 2nm technology, he said India is on track to emerge as a major global semiconductor player by 2035, alongside initiatives to support deep-tech startups.
