Ever heard of “driving while Black” or “walking while Black”? Well, recently, Mr. Morris discovered “being sick while Black”.

Today's Healing Conversation centers on the issue of Black individuals facing unjust treatment in medical settings due to racial biases, as highlighted by recent incidents. A notable example is Alexander Morris from The Four Tops being restrained at a hospital, which evoked memories of a similar traumatic experience I faced in 2016. Despite finding solace in humour, the fear of being unfairly labeled persists for myself and others as well.

The discussion emphasizes the importance of empathy and unbiased care in healthcare, particularly for Black people presenting with mental health concerns. I hereby wish to encourage the sharing of similar experiences to foster understanding and support within the community, aiming to affirm our humanity amidst societal challenges.
