Dopo aver catturato in passato almeno cinque o sei grosse cernie in questo spot, decido di calare la mia Wolfcam per osservare da vicino com’è fatta la tana.
Incredibilmente, lancio la mia esca in gomma proprio nella bocca della cernia, che non ha nemmeno dovuto muoversi! (Da notare la seconda cernia, ferma accanto.) Dopo essersi rifugiata nella tana un paio di volte, riesco a farla uscire (usavo un finale dello 0.40 per evitare di perdere la telecamera), ma dopo un breve tira e molla si slama.
Sono comunque contento, perché il mio obiettivo non era la cattura, ma studiare meglio questo incredibile spot.


After having caught at least five or six big dusky groupers in the past at this spot, I decided to drop my Wolfcam to see exactly what the den looks like.
Incredibly, I cast my soft lure right into the grouper’s mouth — it didn’t even have to move! After taking refuge in its hole twice, I managed to pull it out (I was using a 0.40 mm leader to avoid losing the camera), but after a brief back-and-forth struggle, it came off the hook.
I’m actually happy about that, because my goal this time wasn’t to catch the fish, but to study this amazing spot more closely.
