Hi everyone! In this video I am going to review the Godox iT32 flash & the X5 trigger. This is a rather long video, if necessary please jump to the chapters that you need.
A lot of photographers already own Godox flashes like the TT685, TT600, AD200, along with triggers such as the XPro. So the big question is: can these work together with the iT32, or does switching to the iT32 mean your existing flashes and triggers become obsolete?
In this video, I’ll answer these common questions.

The Outline:
Introduction (00:00-06:25)
The 5 Things that I love about this flash:
a) Small, well-built; has a touch screen and simple menu
b) Magnetic connection
c) Practical accessories
d) Can be used with other Godox flashes & triggers
e) Good light
4 Questions when I receive iT32 flash, and the answers (06:26-08:43)
1) Is the Canon ADE1 adaptor still needed on a EOS R camera that has the Multi Function Hotshoe, such as the R50?
2) Is it compatible with the most commonly-used modifiers, such as the Magmod Magsphere, a Rogue flash binder and S-brackets?
3) Can it be used with multiple Godox flashes at the same time?
4) How's the battery life?
The Full Photoshoot (08:44-24:49)
My thoughts (not in the video): Most portraits demos with iT32 happened in a context where the ambient light intensity is low, which make sense because this flash is not a high power one. In these cases, the iT32 flash acted as the main light.
In my first photoshoot, I used iT32 as a fill light near the window, using the sufficient natural light in the context as the main light.
In the bedroom where the ambient light intensity wasn't as strong as before, iT32 was used as the main light.
I don't think the iT32 can overpower the sun so I don't even try.
Breakdown:
Near the window: Testing & Getting Familiar with the New Flash and shoot in pure natural light (08:47-10:24)
-Testing the flash Bouncing the flash off the ceiling
-Moving towards the window for natural light images
Near the window: iT32 as on camera flash (10:25-11:03)
-Bouncing the light on the ceiling
Near the window: iT32 as off-camera flash (11:03-18:26)
-Using the magnetic flash stand and a crocodile tripod
Near the window: Using the Godox TT685 flash as a comparison (18:27-22:21)
-Guide number of TT685 is 197
-The Guide number of iT32 is 59
iT32 as off-camera flash in the bedroom (22:23-24:01)
-I tried to replicate natural light and I failed.
-A big modifier, like a softbox is needed for creating diffused light.
-The position of the flash must be from the window, and preferably outside.
Natural light in the living room (24:02-24:48)
3 Things to improve (24:49-26:44)
1) Have the power of the flash shown on the trigger
2) The dial is excellent and smooth but you can accidentally scroll it and change the flash power when you are holding it, just be careful.
3) A customized, bigger modifier. The fact that the flash is tiny makes it even more necessary to pair with a good modifier to soften/ diffuse the light.
How to use the iT32 as a transmitter and a receiver with other Godox flashes? (26:44-32:00)
-As a transmitter: Set the iT32 to transmitter mode and control the power of other flash groups through the menu.
-As a receiver: Set the iT32 to receiver mode and use it as one of multiple flashes controlled by an existing Godox trigger you already own, such as the XPro.
