Our 2012 GMC Terrain continued to be noisy on start-up even after the timing chain replacement. Rolling into winter and as a result of remote-starting the car there would be exhaust fumes in the car. The car had some odd engine idle issues as well. I've always associated this with the timing chain wear, and oil dilution/breakdown from the exhaust gasses and fuel finding its way into the crankcase due to the associated ring seal issues with the 2.4L EcoTec engines. Likely all contributing factors, the exhaust manifold has solved the exhaust smell, and helped with the lope at idle.
Judging by the size of the crack the O2 sensor was reading "lean" from fresh air reversion. Lean would lead to added fuel enrichment. The car idles better and hopefully the fuel economy returns. The car used to average 25mpg, but hasn't seen a number like that in some time. We're lucky to get 20mpg anymore.
Hope the video helps, and everyone enjoys watching!
