Student event
Once a year, students of two schools compete against each other. These students study Automotive Engineering at Fontys and HAN and they are determined to engineer the most energy-efficient car. There’s a total of 34 teams that first design a car to drive 28 km/h, then optimize its energy consumption, and finally put their theory to practice by building the car. Ultimately, their cars are driven by one of their team mates at the Midland Circuit in Lelystad. Only the very best are able to break new records and take home the EcoMarathon Cup!
About Automotive
The EcoMarathon is part of Automotive Project 7 and 8, two courses that show the steep learning curve that the students have been through in their first two years of their Automotive Engineering programme. During the Project courses, students learn the basics of engineering methods, such as the V-cycle. The EcoMarathon is one of their largest and most adored projects, as all of their learned skills come together here.
