Land Rover Series 2A Restoration – Part 4 | Rear Tub & Front Guards
In this episode I tackle two of the bigger, uglier jobs on the Land Rover — rebuilding the rear tub and sorting out the front guards (fenders).
The rear tub had all the usual problems: corrosion where aluminium meets steel, a few questionable repairs from a previous life, and panels that had seen better decades. It comes apart, gets repaired, and slowly starts looking like something worth putting back on the vehicle.
Up front, the guards weren’t much better. Bent edges, cracks, and the general aftermath of 60+ years of farm duties. Same story here — strip, repair, reshape, and try not to make it worse.
No shortcuts, no miracle products, just a lot of time, basic tools, and figuring things out as I go. It’s not a concours restoration, just getting everything solid, straight, and usable again.
