Ada refuses to surrender. With a law book, a stack of witnesses, and stubborn frontier logic, the siblings take their fight to a hearing in Bend—where the argument isn’t just about smoke and stone, but about whether survival belongs only to those who follow the old way. And when the ruling finally falls, their warm floor becomes something bigger than one cabin: a new idea spreading across the county.
