Latter-day Saint Prayer Circles

Описание: Praying in the temple endowment looks different because when you are in the presence of God, or trying to invoke the presence of God, the scriptures talk about forming circles.

In Numbers 11, Moses’s seventy elders surrounded the Tabernacle in order to have God's presence appear before them.

The psalmist talks about encircling the altar of the temple to show appropriate veneration.

When Christ visited the Americas and taught sacred, unspeakable things, angels surrounded Christ and the children, and the disciples were encircled by fire.

When Lehi entered the presence of God, he saw concourses of angels surrounding God’s throne singing and praising him (1 Nephi 1:8)

An early Christian text records a prayer circle where Jesus apparently commanded his disciples for form a circle around him, holding hands, while he worshipped, and they all repeated Amen antiphonally.

God hears and honors prayer in whatever form it takes.

But there’s something special about laying your hands on someone’s head in blessing.

Or kneeling before an altar of bread and water.

The formality of ritual prayer changes your mindset and invites holiness.

In the temple, Latter-day Saints prepare to enter the symbolic presence of God by participating in a special kind of prayer where we invoke the power of the priesthood and invite a strong sense of holiness into our lives.
