A listener discusses his concern with networking since he is from another country.
Hi Carl,
A new listener to your podcast as of tonight and will be purchasing the scholarship guide very quickly, also seriously considering your coaching soon.
I am an American Middle eastern dual citizen changing careers from medicine into aviation.
I finished medical school in the Middle East before returning to the US to continue my medical career. Then I decided that medicine is not for me and started pursuing my childhood dream of being a pilot.
I passed my private pilot check ride in 45 hrs of training and a 98% on my written, and currently working on my IFR ticket.
I am quite frankly scared of networking, I do not know if I would be welcome. Afraid of just hanging out around airports and unsure of where exactly to start.
Wording applications for much needed scholarships is another issue and not sure how to be convincing as a person from a very special, and frankly sensitive demographic.
My life’s dream is to become a successful long-haul 777 pilot, I am willing to put as much as I possibly can into it.
How and where to start networking? Do I have a chance for a scholarship? Is this too real or just social anxiety?
I know I’m throwing you a curveball but any advice is much appreciated.
Thank you for all your effort.
