9.14.12: Explaining his decision to sentence suspended North Providence Police Chief John Whiting to six months in prison, Superior Court Judge Daniel Procaccini said Friday that Whiting "was responsible for setting an example for professionalism, competence and ethical behavior within the department he was privileged to lead." Procaccini stayed Whiting's serving of prison time during the appeals phase of his case.
