Absolutely Amazing Decks of Yami Yugi and Seto Kaiba. These were released in the year 2000 and came long before structure decks. These were some of the first ever Japanese cards with the Eye of Anubis in the bottom right-hand corner and had prefixes, in this case "EX."

The "Reserve" cards form the basis of Side Deck when combined with 5 of the cards from the associated 50-card Theme Deck. This allows for several 40-card Deck + 15-card Side Deck combinations from the same 60-card pool in each of the two Themes.

The only difference between the EX Starter Deck set and the EX-R Starter Deck set is that the EX cards are unnumbered and the EX set includes Lord of D. and The Flute of Summoning Dragon as Secret Rare promotional cards and doesn't include the Soul Exchange and Card Destruction promotional cards at all.

The 87 unique cards of EX-R set, minus the duplication, were divvied up to become the English TCG Yugi Starter Deck (SDY) and Kaiba Starter Deck (SDK), with 13 cards from the first 50 cards common to both Decks.
