A Falcon Made of Colors: Art for the Sky, September 20, 2024

Описание: In honor of Foothill Country Day School's 70th Anniversary, our students, faculty and staff participated in a unique living art activity called Art for the Sky. Led by artist and environmental educator Daniel Dancer, students learned about using their "sky sight", the ability to look at the larger picture of the world, beyond their individual role in it. They also learned about the environment impact of the carbon dioxide in earth's atmosphere and what that will mean for future generations, and learned songs related to flight. Then, more than 500 members of the school community, led by Mr. Dancer and parent volunteers, collaborated to create a piece of art, visible only from the sky. They youngest participant was 2 years old, the oldest more than 70. This video shows the process.

The colorful falcon is an interpretation of the school's mascot and logo. Foothill Country Day has a strong focus on creating leaders, and the falcon is meant to inspire students to lead with confidence, always considering the larger world view first.
