Abstract:
This talk presents the computing system design in our commercial autonomous vehicles, and provides a detailed performance, energy, and cost analyses. Drawing from our commercial deployment experience, In this talk, first, we highlight design constraints unique to autonomous vehicles that might change the way we approach existing architecture problems; second, we identify new architecture and systems problems that are perhaps less studied before but are critical to autonomous vehicles; third, we present Eudoxus, a system specially designed for autonomous machine localization. At last, we present our current work on designing computing systems for collaborative autonomous driving.
Biography:
Dr. Shaoshan Liu is CEO of PerceptIn, an intelligent transportation company, his technical research focuses on Autonomous Driving technologies and Robotics. He has published over 70 research papers, over 40 U.S. patents, and over 150 international patents on autonomous driving technologies and robotics. Dr. Shaoshan Liu is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Distinguished Speak of the IEEE Computer Society, a Distinguished Speaker of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and a founder of the IEEE Special Technical Community on Autonomous Driving Technologies. Dr. Shaoshan Liu received Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard Kennedy School, Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from University of California, Irvine.
