No other country in Europe has been moved around on the map as often as Poland. At times it was small, then very large, and then it disappeared for 123 years. Music has always united the population and reflects the history of Poland. But what is "Polish" music? What makes it special, and who has shaped it?
On our journey through Poland, we meet musicians who are currently influencing developments in classical music, folk, and jazz. They share their visions and musical ambitions. In these conversations, viewers will learn about the influences that have shaped Polish music tradition so far and what inspires it today, as well as where artists see themselves in Poland and Europe—politically as well. We also explore whether contemporary composers still sound "Polish" today.
In the film, we move through Polish locations that have been important to the vibrant music tradition: Wroclaw, Katowice, Krakow, Warsaw. Collaboration with artists such as: Marzena Diakun, Agata Zubel, Szymon Nehring, Adam Baldych, Kapela Ze Wsi Warszawa, Kinga Głyk and Jakub Orlinski.
