How Thinking Orchestrally Changes Your Piano Playing

Описание: Most composers don't think of piano music as just "piano music," but throughout history, keyboard instruments have allowed single musicians to play large and full works of music: they bring the entire orchestra to our fingertips. One way in which we can better interpret the notes on the page, is to think about what orchestral instruments a composer would have wishes to use, or better yet, discover how were they using the piano to imitate those orchestral instruments. In this short video, I take you through my own thinking behind orchestration in keyboard music, and show one very clear example of how thinking orchestrally very much changes the tone, color, articulation, and dynamics that we use at the piano.
