On January 17, 1994, at 4:31 AM Pacific Standard Time, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake centered in Northridge struck the southern California area. At least 57 people died, and thousands were injured.
I began recording about 4:41 AM, after the local NBC affiliate KNBC-TV Channel 4 came on the air.
This is the first six hours of news coverage by local TV stations KNBC-TV Channel 4, KCBS-TV Channel 2, and KTLA-TV Channel 5.
