Should I just drop out of school and cook for the rest of my life?
Ingredients
I used around 3lb of thickly sliced pork belly
Coke or Coca Cola (I used diet and non caffeinated version!)
Whole onion
Large green onions
Peppers
Whole black peppercorn (around 2 tbsp) I didn’t have any
Dark soy sauce (however much soda you use, use 1/3 the amount of soy sauce)
A handful of garlic
1 tbsp Korean miso paste (된장)
Directions:
chop your whole onion in half, chop your large green onion into 3rds, and cut off the ends of your peppers.
Add soda, soy sauce, onion, green onion, peppers, miso paste, whole black peppercorn, and garlic into a pot.
Mix, and put the pot over medium high heat until the mixture begins to boil.
When the mixture is boiling, add your meat into the mixture and make sure your meat is fully submerged.
Keep the lid OFF and let cook for 15 mins.
Once the 15 mins has passed, turn the heat to low and turn the meat over. Make sure the meat is still submerged, and now cover the pot with a lid and let it cook for 35 mins. You can check from the 30 mins mark and see how long more your meat needs.
Turn off the heat and let the meat still in the mixture for 5 mins.
Take your meat out, slice up the pork belly and enjoy! (Enjoy with radish kimchi, samjang, garlic, and Napa cabbage!)
