Thousands protested in Slovakia after their prime minister, Robert Fico, met with President Putin.
President Zelensky has accused Fico of seeking to help fund the Kremlin’s war machine after he visited President Putin for talks in Moscow.
Fico, a vocal critic of western military support for Kyiv, paid a surprise visit to Moscow on Sunday after Ukraine said it could halt the transit of Russian gas to Europe — a move Fico said could cause a “crisis” for his country.
He is only the third European leader to visit Moscow since Russia launched its all-out war in Ukraine almost three years ago.
Zelensky said last week that Ukraine would not extend a five-year natural gas transit deal when it expires at the end of this year.
