This week, we're celebrating the men and women who serve in the military in their spare time while leading everyday lives - Reservists.
The Reserve Forces offer diverse roles, from combat and logistics to medical and cyber operations, requiring skills like adaptability, teamwork, leadership, and specialised technical expertise.
Richard works for PPSS Group as Operations Director and in his spare time, serves with the Yorkshire Officers' Training Regiment as Company Sergeant Major.
As a Reservist, Richard balances his civilian job along and military commitments with the cooperation of his employer who enables the flexibility to do both. He also brings valuable transferable skills to his job from his experience as an Army veteran, and understands the benefits military personnel bring to a workplace.
As the Armed Forces Lead at PPSS, Richard was a driving force at his employer to come on board the Employer Recognition Scheme. PPSS currently holds Silver on the scheme and continues to develop HR policies that support reservists, adult volunteers and veterans, with an aim to eventually achieve Gold status.
