I'm in my Mom's kitchen and joining today is my Mom and my Sister!
We are making biscuits and gravy.
This is Part 1, making the biscuits.
Part 2 will be the sausage gravy.
These biscuits are flaky, buttery and soft!!
Biscuit Recipe
2 c. all purpose flour
1 T. baking powder
1 T. sugar (optional)
1 t. salt
1/2 c. very cold butter (grated)
1 c. cold milk
~ Preheat the oven at 450 degrees.
~ Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. With hands, mix in the grated butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
~ Add the milk, use hands or a wooden spoon until you have a somewhat sticky dough. (don't over work the dough)
~ Roll dough into a rectangle onto a floured countertop.
~ Cut into thirds, stacking them on top of each other.
~ Roll out again and cut into thirds and stack. Repeat 4-5 times.
~ The final roll out, leave the dough 1/2 inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter.
~ Place on ungreased sheet.
~ Bake for 10-15 minute or until golden brown.
