A service established nearly 75 years ago, to serve the public - from cradle to grave, is itself in need of urgent care.

So, we're asking: Can the NHS survive?

West Midlands Ambulance Service: "We would like to apologise to the family and offer our condolences. Sadly, we are seeing some patients wait a very long time for ambulances to arrive as a result of long hospital handover delays. The pressure we are seeing in health and social care means that when our crews arrive at A&E they are unable to handover patients to hospital staff and therefore cannot respond to the next patient in the community."

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust: "It's essential that Yusuf's family have confidence in the independence of the investigation so that they can have answers to their concerns. We are working with regional NHS colleagues, outside of Rotherham, to ensure this can be achieved. We will update Yusuf's family as soon as the necessary arrangements are in place."

Chief Nurse of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust: "We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jennifer Storey and would be happy to meet with the family to discuss any concerns they have about her care. Our trust works closely with local social care organisations to help patients return to their own home or care home as soon as it is safe and appropriate for them to do so, this includes helping to train care home staff in managing patients who have complex needs."
