In this video, I walk you through a specific repair on a MrCool DIY Multi-Zone Heat Pump (Model: DIY-MULTI4-36HP230).
The system had a common issue found in DIY installations: a leaked refrigerant line due to a damaged or over-tightened Quick Connector. Instead of the costly and time-consuming process of replacing the entire line set all the way to the air handler, I’ll show you a professional workaround.
The Solution:
I removed the failed Quick Connector and converted the line to a standard Flare Connection. This is a reliable, permanent fix that saves the existing line set and gets the zone back up and running without unnecessary waste.
What you’ll see in this video:
Identifying the leak at the DIY Quick Connector.
Cutting the line and prepping for a flare.
The conversion to a Flare Connection to restore the system's integrity.
Proof that these systems can be serviced and repaired even when the "quick" components fail.
Whether you're a homeowner trying to save your installation or a tech looking for a field-proven solution, this video shows that you don't always have to "start over" when a DIY connector fails.
