The stunning Whitaker Point Trail, also known as Hawksbill Crag, is a dramatic rock outcrop with breathtaking views of the Buffalo National River area. Whitaker Point is a must-hike in Arkansas.

In this video find key information, including parking tips, conditions, and the best times to visit. Whether exploring the Buffalo National River, Ozark National Forest, or nearby sites like Glory Hole Falls, this trail is a bucket-list experience.

The 3-mile round-trip hike is easy to moderate, with a 400-foot elevation gain. From County Route 5 near Ponca, Arkansas, the trail descends through dense forest, reaching the start of the cliffs after about a mile. Following the edge for another half-mile, hikers arrive at the iconic rocky outcrop. The views are stunning. The return climb regains the lost elevation, making the hike more challenging on the way back. There’s no water along the trail, so bring plenty and wear proper footwear for a safe and enjoyable adventure.
