"Development of Theoretical and Computational Models Based on Percolation Theory Leading Towards Durable Material Design"
This project aims to develop theoretical and computational models based on the percolation theory, which are crucial analytic and numerical learning tools for synthesis and design of durable optical materials. Specifically, a theoretical model of the laser-induced damage threshold based on the known materials property will be formulated. Moreover, the multi-scale characteristics of optical damage based on the scaling and renormalization rules of percolation theory will be reproduced by the numerical model. The most suitable material for each optical component in a laser system can be chosen or synthesized using these models.
