Jeff Rona is a Los Angeles–based composer and recording artist whose work blends electronics, ambient soundscapes, and orchestral writing across film, television, video games, and solo records. His film career began with Ridley Scott's White Squall and Barry Levinson's Homicide: Life on the Street, leading to his role as a key collaborator in Hans Zimmer's MediaVentures collective on scores including Gladiator, Traffic, Mission: Impossible 2, Black Hawk Down, The Thin Red Line, The Lion King, The Prince of Egypt, Toys, and The Fan. His documentary scores include Rob Stewart's Sharkwater — credited with helping spur a near-global ban on shark finning — along with Sharkwater Extinction, Generation Iron, The New Fire, and Poisoning Paradise. In games he has scored AAA titles including God of War III, Far Cry 4, Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, and The Callisto Protocol, and co-founded Emperia Sound and Music. He has co-written and performed with Jon Hassell under Brian Eno's production, orchestrated and toured with Lisa Gerrard and Dead Can Dance, and collaborated with Philip Glass, cellist Tina Guo, and poet David Whyte. Commissioned for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he releases solo albums (Projector, Vapor, Lume) on Alpha Pup and Camerata Records, authored The Reel World: Scoring for Pictures, Television, and Video Games (now in its third expanded edition), and has spoken at TED, Berklee, UCLA Extension, Columbia College Chicago, and Soundtrack Cologne.
