Another Fun Family Tree Board by Burton.
Burton has so many boards, so why the Hometown Hero? It falls somewhere between the Flight Attendant and Skeleton Key. It has more taper than the other two boards and falls in the middle in terms of how far setback the stance sits, and has a very similar flex the Flight Attendant. Basically the Hometown Hero blends two slightly more specific into something maybe slightly more versatile. It’s an all mountain charger.
The flex for the Hometown Hero is on the stiffer side of medium, but not so stiff that you can’t relax on it a bit. It is still stiff enough for lightning speed, and has been strategically reinforced with glass at certain points in the board to give the extra control and confidence you want when pinning it.
When it comes to the family tree boards it really comes down to the minute details. Stance setback, taper amount, sidecut radius, and flex patterns and stiffness are the key factors, so ultimately it comes down to how much tail do you want behind your back foot?
Overall feeling: Sev felt the Hometown Hero was a bit more versatile for his riding style (side hits, trees, general hooning) than the Flight Attendant or Skeleton Key boards, and he would definitely add one for his personal quiver.
