7 Chords can ALWAYS be represented accurately by a Basic Triad on the "3" of the Chord OVER the Root of the Chord
For Example:
In the key of C, the 3rd scale degree is E
Therefore, the "3" of any type of C Chord will be either E or Eb
The Types of 7 Chords Matched with the Corresponding Basic Triads on the 3rd Scale Degree:
Dominant 7 -- Diminished Triad....Eg, C7 -- Edim/C
Minor 7 -- Major Triad...Eg, Cm7 -- Eb/C
Major 7 -- Minor Triad...Eg, CMaj7 -- Em/C
Minor Maj 7 -- Augmented Triad...Eg, Cm Maj7 -- Eb+/C
