Parent company Lafarge Holcim is reportedly taking measured steps towards the eventual merger of its cement majors in India, ACC and Ambuja cements. Both ACC and Ambuja cements have been trading higher since the news of possible merger has been doing the rounds.
The merger had been on the cards since 2013 when Lafarge Holcim took a stake in Ambuja Cements, which in turn owns a 50.05 percent stake in ACC. Cement stocks have been in focus since the Budget after FM Arun Jaitley announced infra development and affordable housing schemes.
