Castello Scaligero, Soave

Описание: Il castello di Soave (Vr) è di origine altomedievale. Caratterizzato dall'imponente mastio e da tre cortili su diversi livelli, è circondato dalle mura che scendono a cingere l'intero borgo. La torre di S.Giorgio protegge l'ingresso principale con ponte levatoio, da cui si accede al primo cortile e alle rovine delle absidi di una chiesetta del X° secolo. Da qui si passa al secondo cortile, detto della Madonna, e quindi al terzo cortile, in cui si innalza il mastio a base piramidale. In questa zona si trova la "Casa del Capitano" con la sua elegante scala esterna; sul muro di cinta si scorgono anche tracce di un edificio a due piani. Salendo sui camminamenti si raggiunge infine la sommità del mastio, in cui si trova il trabocchetto, mentre la vista spazia sui Monti Lessini.

The castle of Soave, dating back to the early Middle Ages, is characterized by a high central tower, the keep, and three courtyards, while the majestic walls surround both the fortress and the medieval village. The main entrance, protected by S. George's tower, is equipped with a drawbridge; the first courtyard guards the ruins of a small medieval church (X° century). From here it's possible to reach the second courtyard, known as the Virgin Mary's courtyard, and then the third courtyard with the keep and the so called "Captain's house". Finally, climbing up to the wall walks, the keep with his famous trapdoor can be easily accessed.
