Under the upcoming Renters’ Rights Act, one of the key changes being introduced is a ban on rental bidding wars.
➡️ What does that mean?
Rental bidding happens when prospective tenants compete to offer higher and higher rent in order to secure a property. From 1st May 2026, this practice will no longer be allowed.
🏡 Why is this happening?
The ban is designed to make renting fairer and more transparent, helping ensure that rental prices aren’t driven up unfairly and that everyone is treated equally in the process.

This change means you’ll need to set clear, honest asking rents and avoid accepting offers above the advertised price based on a bidding process. It’s about fairness and clarity for everyone involved.
