Polarization:
--------------------
-- Light is a electromagnetic wave which vibrates multiple plane when pass through a medium, this called unpolarized light
-- The process of transforming unpolarized light into polarized light is called polarization.
-- In Polarized light waves, light vibrates in single plane
What is polarized letter or chart?
----------------------------------------------------
-- polarized chart is chart in which polarized letter are used in normal background.
-- Means polarized letters reflected their light rays in only one direction
-- If we use a Filter or Analiser, they block the polarized light rays and only white background is seen by the patient
Polarization Method:
---------------------------------
• Polarized letters are used in normal background
• An Analyzer is used in front of eye which allow right eye to view right half of the target , but blocking left half of target from view and left eye to view left half of the target , but blocking right half of target from view.
• Example:

Polarized Targets and Polarizing Filters:
---------------------------------------------------------------
• Simplified binocular subjective refraction
• Proper positioning of septum not necessary
• Distance acuity chart divided into two halves, each covered by polarizing films
Procedure:
-----------------
Patient sit comfortably and directed towards the chart
Analyzer place before the starting Point
Best Vision Sphere: Start with retinoscopic findings (Starting point) and determination made until approximately 6/6 letters are clear.
Jackson Cross Cylinder: To determine presence , amount and orientation of astigmatism.
Fogging: Blur or fog the characters to approx. 20/40 level by adding 0.75 or 1.00 sphere (more plus or less minus to the sphere power)
From this point power is decreased in 0.25 steps until best or maximum visual acuity is attained.
End point may be monitored by red green balance (duochrome test) to avoid over minusing
Same procedure repeated for left eye
