The song "Molambo", first recorded in 1953, has a curious story: Augusto Mesquita, the lyricist, was an inveterate bohemian and every night for 10 years went to a bar with a group of friends. One day he told everyone that he was moving in with his beloved in Copacabana, and he disappeared for 5 years, until he returned saying they had separated. Then one day he arrived at the bar out of the blue asking Jaime Florence to accompany him in a new composition, and he sang "Molambo", which sealed his reconciliation with his beloved, despite of the abandonment and the suffering that she had put him through. He was never again seen at the bar, and a classic of Brazilian popular music was born that night.
