Hajj pilgrims scale Mount Arafat for sacred ritual, share prayers for Gaza

Muslim pilgrims clad in white robes climbed the rocky Mount Arafat, or Mountain of Mercy, at sunrise on Thursday to mark Arafa, the annual Hajj’s most important day.
Overlooking the plain of Arafat, Mount Arafat is where Prophet Mohammad is believed to have held his last sermon. The Hajj, a once-in-a-lifetime duty for every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it, is considered the world's biggest religious gathering.
"What I feel? I don't know if I can describe really what I feel because it's really great," said Zainab Loo, a pilgrim from Senegal.
Pilgrims will stay until sunset before moving to Muzdalifa plain, where they will gather pebbles to throw at stone columns symbolizing the devil. The ritual stoning marks the first day of Eid al-Adha, or the feast of sacrifice, which will be celebrated by Muslims across the globe.
