He Trusted Family: Ebonyi Man's N3.5m Land Investment Turns to Nightmare

Описание: A young man from Ebonyi State brought a complaint to Brekete Family concerning a land transaction involving his in-law.

According to him, in 2022 while he was living in Europe, he paid ₦3.5 million to his in-law for a piece of land. He said the transaction was based on trust, given their family relationship.

He explained that upon returning to Nigeria in 2024, he needed funds and decided to sell the land. However, when he contacted his in-law to assist with the process, he was allegedly told that the government had taken over the land.

He stated that after further discussions, the in-law reportedly offered to provide another parcel of land as a replacement. Following several back-and-forth conversations, documents were eventually presented to him, but he said he was not comfortable with the paperwork and had concerns about its authenticity and clarity.

He brought the matter forward seeking transparency and resolution, stating that he simply wants either proper documentation for a legitimate property or a fair refund of his money.

The case raises concerns about land documentation, family transactions, and the importance of due diligence in property dealings.
