Make Any Variety of Leek Perennial and Overwinter Leeks in Your Garden

Описание: Did you know that you can make any variety of leek a perennial in your garden? You can purchase varieties of leeks that are labelled as "perennial leeks" but you can make any leek a perennial by leaving some leeks to overwinter in your garden. Of course this method may not work if your climate experiences a very cold winter, but leeks are generally very hardy and resistant to even freezing temperatures. After leaving the leeks to overwinter, they will resume growth again the following Spring, and will then flower and create a blossom. If you let this blossom dry out, it will re-seed your garden bed with many leek seeds, and voila!, you have more leeks growing again for next year. You can always start more leek starters as well like I do, and keep revitalizing your bed if you'd like, but if you just let this process go, year after year, you will have a perennial bed of leeks in your garden.
