Paul Hicks, 50, of Sandusky, has been indicted in connection with the 2001 disappearance and death of his ex-wife, Regina Rowe Hicks, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Huron County Prosecutor James Sitterly.
Officials say Hicks was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the U.S. Marshals Service following the indictment filed in Huron County Common Pleas Court.
He faces three counts of murder and one count of kidnapping.
According to witness accounts, the 25-year-old victim was last seen around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, leaving her boyfriend’s home in a white Chevrolet Camaro to pick up her son. However, she never arrived.
Four days later, on Oct. 22, 2001, her vehicle was found submerged in a pond on Section Line Road 30 in Willard, with her body inside.
The case was investigated by BCI at the request of the Huron County Sheriff’s Office.
Prosecutors say the investigation was conducted with assistance from the sheriff’s office and is now being handled by the Huron County Prosecutor’s Office and the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Section.
