If you're still reading this, you're a freaking rare bread, that actually wants to learn! Anyways, I don't know if this works on the new KitKat base... Probably NOT! S-OFF is amazing, and I encourage you to do it! Just know that with great power, comes great responsibility! With S-OFF, the security on your phone is COMPLETELY OFF, and you can royally screw up your phone. Just a warning. Don't do this if you have NO CLUE what S-OFF IS! Learn Android and HTC stuff first, then come back and don't take any OTA's if you want S-OFF! :)
