The isolated ego that experiences itself as vulnerable and insecure is a fiction, a mental construct, a learned way of experiencing yourself that doesn't correspond to what you actually are. You are not separate from the world. You are not isolated. You are waves in the ocean of existence.

When you see through this illusion, when you recognize yourself as awareness rather than as the anxious thoughts and sensations, anxiety loses its power. It may still arise—it's a conditioned pattern. But it no longer controls you, no longer defines your experience, no longer seems like an emergency.
