A couple of weeks ago, I watched a beautiful Kannada play that not only chronicled the iconic Vidyarthi Bhavan but also brought alive the emotional connect that patrons have with this institution over the decades. Amongst the brilliant characters portrayed, a pivotal performance was that of famed actor and food legend, Sihi Kahi Chandru, who gave voice to the Vidyarthi Bhavan masala dosae, the heart of a tiffin experience at the 77-year-old eatery. In the course of our conversation backstage, Chandru Sir and I quickly decided we should savour a full tiffin at Vidyarthi Bhavan soon.
